Certain factors are to be considered for the proper purchase of pipe elbows. These factors are:
Materials
Size
Standard type
Threaded type
Maximum assurance of reliable performance in-
o    High pressure
o    High impulse
o    High vacuum
o    High vibration
o    High Temperature

Elbow design
an elbow provides a modification in material-flow direction. this adds pressure losses to firmly sst thanks to impact, friction and re-acceleration.
as product enters the inlet on your elbow, it usually continues moving straight ahead to firmly the very first ( or primary ) impact zone. the merchandise is now deflected at an angle toward the outlet on your elbow. the deflection angle is influenced by the elbow style, the product’s characteristics, the conveying velocity, and specific load ( additionally known as product-to-gas ratio ). in several designs, the merchandise can hit a number of secondary impact zones before exiting the elbow.

Impact forces will cause severe degradation of fragile or breakage-sensitive product, generating a significant number of fines or dust and making quality problems. heat-sensitive productan example would be plastic pellets, will overheat upon the contact surface this may result in unwanted tails or streamers upon the pellet or film build-up upon the surface on your elbow, that may eventually cause product contamination. abrasive product will cause wear, leading to firmly work-out elbows and system leaks and inflicting maintenance and safety issues

90 degree elbows, also called “90 bends or 90 ells”, are manufactured as SR (Short Radius) elbows and LR (Long Radius) elbows.

SR (Short Radius) elbows have a Center-to-Face dimension of 1.0 X diameter and are typically used in tight areas where clearances are an issue.

LR (Long Radius) elbows have a Center-to-Face dimension of 1.5 X diameter and are the more common type and used when space is available and flow is more critical.

45 Degree Elbows
45 degree elbows, also called “45 bends or 45 ells” are typically made as LR (Long Radius) elbows.

Applications of pipe elbows :
Varied applications of pipe elbows are as follows :
they're manufactured to remain applied to flow lines for gases, fluids in industrial processes, medical, construction and plenty of alternative specialized applications.
The elbows are constructed of significant materials for rigid applications like extreme high/low temperature resistance etc.
The elbows are specifically produced for use on method and management systems, instrumentation, and equipment applied to chemical, petroleum, fluid power, electronic and pulp and paper plants.

Types of 90° elbows:
90° elbows are manufactured as SR (Short Radius) elbows and LR (Long Radius) elbows:

SR (Short Radius) Elbows:
These elbows have a Center-to-Face dimension of 1.0 X diameter. They are typically used in tight areas where clearance is the main issue.

LR (Long Radius) Elbows:
These elbows have a Center-to-Face dimension of 1.5 X diameter. They are the most common type of elbow and used when space is available and flow is more critical.

A reducing elbow is a sort of fitting and that is designed to join 2 parts of pipe of completely different sizes. the reducing elbow is therefore known as since it appearance just like a reducing piece and elbow combined into one. reducing elbows have completely different sized openings on every finish and hence they'll connect 2 completely different sized pipes. they're offered in several materials, sizes, finishes and colours

45° Pipe Elbow
45° Pipe Elbow is also known as “45 bends or 45 ells”. The 45° pipe elbow is used to connect tubes at a 45° pipe angle. As the name suggests, this is a pipe fitting device which is bent in such a way to produce 45° change in the direction of flow of the fluid/gas in the pipe.

Like a 90° elbow, the 45° pipe elbow also attaches readily to pipes of various materials like plastic, copper, cast iron, steel, lead, rubber etc. They are typically made as LR (Long Radius) elbows. These types of elbows are available in various sizes (in mm or inches). They are available with different male to female BSP thread connections. Providing a wide choice of colors, these 45° elbows can be manufactured to meet different specifications, in terms of size and diameter.

Male pipe elbows & female pipe elbows
Male pipe elbows and female pipe elbows are in style tube fittings that give an angled modification within the direction of the tubing run. Although a male pipe elbow is designed to connect fractional tube to firmly female tapered pipe thread, a female elbow is designed to connect fractional tube to firmly male npt thread. these methods of tube fittings like male elbows and female elbows are specifically produced for use on instrumentation, method and management systems and equipment employed in chemical, petroleum, fluid power, electronic and pulp and paper plants.
